FIRST POWER UP
This year we were given the challenge to design and build a robot to compete in the game named as Power Up. The game uses basic ideas in complex ways and it is our job to engineer the best robot for the task. Each team is partnered with two other teams to form a three team alliance. Based off of retro video games, as an alliance the robots pick up power cubes and move them to a scale to tip in your teams favor. By saving cubes you can earn special advantages in the game, like boost (double all your points), force (control of the scale) , and levitate (a free climb). All of these points and elements are in hopes to "defeat the boss". As complex as this game is, it requires clear communication and gracious professionalism within the teams and their alliances. Overall we are in for an exciting and truly memorable year!
Highlight from the STEAMWORKS season 2017, we made it to the quarter finals of playoffs at the 10,000 Lakes Regional in Minneapolis! This was really exciting for our team and we are really proud of this accomplishment. Thank you to our mentors, parents, volunteers, alliance partners and students for making this past year great! We are looking forward to what the future holds.
